ERNEST FERNAND BOEGEL passed away on March 29, 2015 in Citrus Heights, CA after a battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. Ernie was born in San Rafael, CA on January 29, 1917 to Fernand Boegel and Maria Denurra Boegel. During the depression, the family moved from the North Bay to several cities in the South Bay, but in adulthood he lived in Oakland, CA, which he considered his true home. As a young adult, Ernie joined the National Guard and was soon drafted into the Army in WWII where he served in the 29th Infantry Division...

ERNEST FERNAND BOEGEL passed away on March 29, 2015 in Citrus Heights, CA after a battle with Alzheimer's and dementia. Ernie was born in San Rafael, CA on January 29, 1917 to Fernand Boegel and Maria Denurra Boegel. During the depression, the family moved from the North Bay to several cities in the South Bay, but in adulthood he lived in Oakland, CA, which he considered his true home. As a young adult, Ernie joined the National Guard and was soon drafted into the Army in WWII where he served in the 29th Infantry Division and landed in France 4 days after D-Day. After the war, he worked for over 30 years as a cabinet maker in the East Bay. As a longtime resident of Oakland, Ernie was a huge A's fan. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years (Marjorie), his sister (Florence SanFillippo), his brother (Maurice Boegel), his granddaughter (Christine Boegel) and his daughter-in-law (Patricia Boegel). He is survived by his son Dennis (wife Sharon) of Livermore, CA; his son Kenneth of Union City, CA; his daughter Eileen Martines (husband Tony) of Big Spring, TX; his daughter Cindy Reed (husband Dan) of Roseville, CA; plus 9 grandchildren - Dennis, Nathan (wife Denise) & Jeremy Boegel, Clint Reed (wife Katie) & Kaci Florez (husband Jhonny) and Alex, Steven, Chris & Renee Martines; one great-grandson (Connor Charles Reed); and several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A funeral will be held at St. Clement's Church in Hayward, CA on Friday, April 10 at 11AM followed by a burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery also in Hayward. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
